Lenticular Pictures

Lenticulars let viewers see one image from one side and a second image from the other side. Walking by, viewers see a transition from one image to the other. Sally’s pieces are “tabula scalata” style lenticular pictures made of folded paper.

Sally has created lenticulars combining historic photos with her contemporary photographs. Some portray the changing urban environment by showing the same location at different times. Others pair historic and present day events. Other lenticulars use pairs of Sally’s contemporary photographs.

This article, written for Sally’s Double Takes show, tells about the history of the art form.
